The co-op is looking for employees who share our commitment to customer service, natural foods, support of local farmers and vendors, product guidelines, and the Cooperative Principles. Central Co-op began serving the community in 1978, and moved to our current Madison Street location in 1999.
Our workers enjoy union membership with UFCW Locals 81 (meat and seafood workers) and 21 (retail workers) and General Distribution Workers IU660 of the IWW (administrative and custodial workers). All employees must become members of their respective bargaining unit to continue employment beyond the introductory period. Our generous compensation package includes medical/dental benefits for all employees working 20+ hours per week, an employee assistance program, Paid Time Off, and a staff discount. We also offer many opportunities for employee growth and participation, and welcome staff involvement at all levels.
