Meet Rainbow Cloud owners Shane Hart and Leland Harmell and learn about and sample their kombucha and kefir water!
This indie business has been brewing kombucha in Tumwater since 2012 and was voted “Best Kombucha in the Northwest” at the 2016 Oregon Fermentation Festival. In 2018 it was purchased from the original owner by Shane Hart, an organic lifestyle advocate, and Leland Harmell, who had already been brewing kombucha for over a decade. Now their families, from kids to grandparents, participate in the brewing process, which they do in oak barrels for a smooth taste.
In addition to kombucha, Rainbow Cloud also makes kefir water. Kefir Water is made by culturing water, sugar and fruit with a starter culture and is naturally fizzy and slightly tart. Unlike their kombucha, which is slightly caffeinated, their kefir water is completely caffeine free.
