Want to work for a values-driven business? Central Co-op is dedicated to great customer service, strong community, local farmers and vendors, and the cooperative movement. Nestled between different and diverse neighborhoods in two nearby cities, and offering foods to nourish a wide range of diets, we serve and represent diverse communities.
That dedication is in our mission and values, it's in our history, and it's a big reason why people come to the Co-op to work and stay on year after year. If you're excited about good food, our mission and values, and awesome customer service, check out our available positions! We can't wait to hear from you.
To get on the Tacoma alert list, you will have to create an account, click "Apply for a Job" and then "Start a New Application," but don't worry, most of the fields are optional and you'll be able to change your information when you actually apply for a job. We just want to have your contact information in our jobs system so it will be easy to get you information about new jobs as they are available.
Compensation and Worker Ownership
Central Co-op is a solidarity cooperative, with consumer and worker shares. Eligible workers who purchase a share of equity in the business may vote in Board elections and serve on the Board as worker trustees, receive returns on their labor in years the Board chooses to allocate patronage dividends, and more.
Our great compensation package includes medical/dental benefits, paid time off for employees who qualify, a staff discount, a 401(k) plan with a company match, and an employee assistance program. We also offer opportunities for employee growth and participation to staff at all levels. Many of our staff enjoy union representation through either UFCW Local 21 or IWW IU 660, depending on their position.
We're an equal opportunity employer, regardless of race or ethnicity, color, creed, religious preference, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, life threatening illnesses, reliance on public assistance, public opinions or affiliations, or the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability.
Every effort will be made to provide accommodations to applicants needing physical, sensory, or mental support to complete the application process. If you'd like such accommodations, requests should be made to the Human Resources Department, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Human Resources folks are happy to answer questions. First, please note:
