Recipes for New Spring Produce

It must be spring because more and more Washington fruits and vegetables are appearing in our Produce department! Last week we celebrated the arrival of Viva Farms strawberries (which are still available and incredible). This week we’ll highlight two more offerings from our partner farms in our great state: snow peas from Alvarez Organic Farms and garlic scapes from Oroville Farm.

Farmer Hilario Alvarez decided to go organic back in 1992, when he became one of the few certified organic producers in Washington. Now Alvarez Organic Farms is one of the largest organic producers in the state, growing in over 200 varieties of pepper and 300 varieties of vegetables in the Yakima Valley.

Oroville Farm is an organic farm located five miles south of the Canadian border on beautiful Lake Osoyoos. They are dedicated to growing many varieties of hard neck and soft neck garlic. They say Oroville has the perfect weather for growing the best garlic!
