Recipes for the Socially Distant

While Central Co-op shoppers tend to cook more than the average American, a lot of us have been forced to make more of our own food due to COVID-19-inspired social distancing. To help out, we've put together this list of food blogs and cooking shows to give you more ideas for home-cooked meals and some entertainment during your confinement:

Cooking Shows on YouTube:

Lidia’s Kitchen: Lidia Bastianich is an Emmy award-winning television host, best-selling cookbook author, and restaurateur. She has held true to her Italian roots and culture, which she proudly and warmly invites her fans to experience. Her show is available on Amazon Prime and her simple pasta recipes can be found on her YouTube channel.

America’s Test Kitchen: America's Test Kitchen is a real place: a fully equipped 15,000 square foot test where a team of highly qualified test cooks and editors perform thousands of tests every year. The goal? To develop the best recipes and cooking techniques, recommend the best cookware and equipment, and rate brand-name pantry staples for home cooks.

Bon Appetit: Bon Appétit wants everyone to love cooking and eating as much as they do. They believe in seasonal produce, properly salted pasta water, and developing recipes that anyone can make at home.

Maangchi: Her channel is all about cooking, eating, and enjoying Korean cuisine with your family and friends.

Chinese Cooking Demystified: This channel is all about learning how to cook the same taste that you'd get in China. Their goal for each video is to give you a recipe that would at least get you close to what's made by some of their favorite restaurants in China.

Binging with Babish: Follow along with Babish every week as he recreates the iconic and obscure foods from your favorite movies and TV shows,

Some of our favorite food blogs:

Smitten Kitchen: Fearless cooking from a tiny kitchen in New York City.

Serious Eats: Meticulously tested recipes that really work; in-depth, science-based explanations of cooking techniques that are truly reliable; detailed reviews of cooking equipment; guides to ingredients, dishes, and cuisines; and food-focused essays, investigations, and profiles.

Food52: Find thousands of recipes submitted by their community of cooks and cooked by their editors in their very own test kitchens.

101 Cookbooks: A California food blog by Heidi Swanson, focused on healthy recipes for everyday. It features over 700 vegetarian recipes, whole foods recipes, and vegan recipes, plus the occasional sweet treat.

Love & Lemons: A mostly-vegetarian blog by Jeanine, who loves bright seasonal food that’s very often finished with a squeeze of lemon.
